Hi! I'm uh, back! The novel is coming along nicely....I'm all the way to five-thousand-something words, which isn't very far at all, but I'm merrily chugging along. I've finally cracked; I hate, and I mean HATE, Twilight. HATE HATE HATE HATE. I've been leading up to this for a while, but then I finally just freaked out, went over to the wall, and tore my edward poster down (and in half). I gave away all the twilight stuff I had, deleted everything twilight related off my computer, and deleted all the Twilight vids I had favorited on Youtube. What set me off was the replacement of my favorite HP blog with a Twilight one, but I have many, many other reasons, which I am making a list of:
1). The writing sucks. A lot. (characters are never developed, sucky plot, crappy writing in general, etc.)

2). The characters are all Mary Sues and Gary Stus. (perfect people).

3). Everybody loves it WAY WAY too much. It's getting out of hand. WHO. FREAKING. CARES. People are selling their souls (I am being figurative) to twilight. The only reason for this is that it feeds on young girl's sexual desires in an unoffensive way (he touched my arm and a shiver ran down my spine, blah, blah, blah).

4). Nothing ever really happens. The plot pretty much stays on one course the entire way, with no side plots. At all. The characters are never developed beyond Edward and Bella's perfectness, so there is no foundation for the entire story. There are no other hardships besides the vampire thing. Nothing. Ever. Happens.

5). Everything Twilight is drama. Everything in the books is like "OHMIGOD I'M GONNA DIE OHHHHHH!!!!", and then everything involving the movie/the fans is always very dramatic. Girls start fights over which actor is hottest. Guys are always all "Twilight is stttuuuupppiiiidddd." I. Am. Sick. Of. It. IT IS A BOOK (a badly written one, at that). NOT A FREAKING RELIGION.

6). It is replacing Harry Potter. Now, I would be perfectly okay with this if it was a brilliantly written, well thought-out, meaningful series, like, say, the Mortal Instruments Series or the Mediator Series (to name only a few) that was replacing it, but it is not. It's leaving HP in a bad name.

7). Because I was so obsessed with it for so long (from august 2008 to January 2008), the Mary Sues and Gary Sues are mucking up MY writing. I was a better writer BEFORE I read Twilight. So, I've had to completely RELEARN TO WRITE (still working on it). Not fun, folks. Plus, finally admitting to myself that I hate Twilight took a HUGE weight off my shoulders. It was....nice. I think that means something.

8). It's non-Christian. I'm not one of those people who run through the streets screaming "TWILIGHT IS BAD AND ALL WHO READ IT GO TO HELL BECAUSE VAMPIRES ARE THE DEVIL!!!!". NO. NOT AT ALL. I'm just saying that compared to Harry Potter or Narnia or whatnot, the storyline isn't very Christian based and the morals (going into depression because of a guy? getting married when you're eighteen??? What a great lesson to be teaching people!) aren't too great, either. I don't think it's good for children.

9). It isn't healthy for teenage girls to sit and read about how hot a guy is, or how badly somebody wants him. I don't care how harmless you say it is, that just can't be good, especially for younger preteen girls.

10). It's cliche and a thousand other Twilights with the same storyline (but with slight variations) have been written before. Enough said, there.

Okay, I'm done with my rant now. I've actually convinced several people to side with me. Yay!
